THE PERFECT COMPANION

REAL CONVERSATIONS FOR

COWORKERS TO CONNECT

Do your office conversations make you feel like you’re stuck in a stock photo?

You can sit three feet from someone for years and know nothing past their coffee order. {THE AND} Co-Workers Edition closes that gap without the forced fun, no trust falls, no two-truths-and-a-lie. Each card asks something real, and the team that answers it works together differently than the one that sat through another icebreaker.

199 questions and prompts. One deck. The team-building that doesn’t feel like it.

Perfect For

THE NEW HIRE’S FIRST WEEK

The person still learning everyone’s name and nodding through every meeting. Skip the awkward welcome lunch and let the team actually meet them, faster than six months of hallway small talk.

A TEAM THAT’S NEVER IN THE SAME ROOM

Remote and hybrid teams who only ever meet as faces in a grid. Works on a video call as well as around a table — real connection without booking anyone a flight.

THE OFFSITE THAT ISN’T CRINGE

Retreats, kickoffs, and the team-building slot everyone quietly dreads. Fill it with something people actually remember instead of another ropes course.

A Deck Built for Teams To Actually Connect

Gets Past the Coffee Orders

{THE AND} Co-Workers Edition asks the questions that never come up between meetings. Each prompt opens a real conversation with the people you work beside every day, so you leave knowing something more than their job title, and a team that knows each other works together better.

Better Than Forced Team Building

No trust falls, no ropes course, no two-truths-and-a-lie. Just a card and a question anyone can answer, team building people don’t dread and quietly opt out of. Works around a table or over a video call, in five minutes or an hour.

Work-Appropriate by Design

Real without being too personal. The questions go deeper than small talk but never put anyone on the spot in front of colleagues, start light, and no one ever has to share more than they want to.

TURN MEETINGS INTO

BETTER WORK RELATIONSHIPS

Open your next meeting with a card instead of a status update. One real question, before the agenda, and the awkward silence everyone’s used to turns into the part of the meeting people actually look forward to.

The best teams aren’t the ones who agree on everything. They’re the ones who know each other, who’ve found the surprising common ground and can name the differences without tiptoeing. {THE AND} Co-Workers Edition gets a team there one conversation at a time, not through another all-hands about values.

Want A Better Work Culture?

Ask Better Questions

The right question in the room changes how a team talks to each other. {THE AND} at work editions (Coworkers, Team Building, On Racism) are built entirely out of those questions, the ones that get people past the status update and into an actual conversation.

They come from Topaz Adizes, founder of The Skin Deep and an Emmy Award–winning artist, drawn from more than 1,200 real conversations filmed around the world over the last decade. This isn’t a set of icebreakers someone wrote in an afternoon. It’s a decade of studying what makes people open up, distilled into a deck your team can use in five minutes.

Bring it to your next meeting, offsite, or onboarding and find out what your team sounds like when the questions are better.

Booking: Topaz is also available for live experience design, keynotes, and speaking engagements.

FAQs

{THE AND} Co-Workers Edition is a team-building card game from The Skin Deep, made for people who work together. It’s a 199-card deck of questions that get coworkers past small talk and into real conversation, for meetings, onboarding, offsites, and remote teams who want to actually know each other.

Yes, it’s designed for the office. The questions go deeper than “how was your weekend” but never put anyone on the spot or get too personal in front of colleagues. People start with the lighter cards and only share as much as they want to, so it works across a whole team without anyone feeling exposed.

Yes. {THE AND} Co-Workers Edition works just as well on a video call as around a table, one person reads a card, everyone answers, no setup or props required. It’s one of the simpler ways to build real connection on a distributed team without flying anyone anywhere.

Most team-building activities stop at the surface, fun facts, trust falls, two-truths-and-a-lie, then back to work. {THE AND} Co-Workers Edition is a Skin Deep deck, built from over 1,300 real conversations filmed around the world, so it’s made to get a team somewhere real instead of just filling the awkward slot. It’s the team building people don’t quietly dread.

It works from two people up to a full team, one conversation at a time, there’s no rigid group size. Use it to open a meeting with a single card, run a full deck at an offsite, or help a new hire’s team get to know them. Draw a card, read it out loud, and let people answer; that’s the whole thing.

Yes, we offer bulk pricing for corporate and team orders. {THE AND} Co-Workers Edition makes a genuinely good gift for a management team, a department, or every employee in the company, a team-building tool people will actually use, not another branded water bottle. Great way to increase team work in a corporate environment

This is a review of an Amazon Vine item. That said, I try to be honest and open in all my reviews.(Please see the enclosed pictures.)This is a great activity to improve understanding and cooperation in a corporate setting. It is listed as a game, but it is not a game as there is no scoring and no winners or losers. What it is a guided activity that guides groups through increasing understanding of each other through clever questions. My team loved this set of cards. I think that you will too.

Really good but might not be an out-of-the-box activity

Got this team-building deck to use as writing prompts in my team-based HS senior class. There are loads of great team-building questions to generate good for thought and structured discussion. Some of the questions are clearly aimed at corporate settings, but can easily be adapted with minor changes to other scenarios. I have used a couple as pre-discussion writing prompts, and it has yielded far more focused discussion and a much better understanding of team needs, which has helped my students be more cohesive & respectful in their work together. This is a great resource for anyone trying to understand or build a collaborative culture in a group, but you should not depend on being able to grab-and-go on the fly.

Perfect tool for team building

This card deck is a fun tool for starting meaningful conversations and strengthening team connections. It’s really a guided activity with well-crafted questions that encourage thoughtful discussions amongst colleagues. The prompts are great for work teams or any group looking to improve communication and collaboration. Some questions are more suited for professional settings, but they can easily be adapted for any group. Overall, it’s a simple yet effective way to bring people together and build stronger working relationships.

Gift for a coworker

I gave to my coworker who often leads team building activities. It looks like a good tool to help make team building more interesting and engaging vs the usual slog. They were appreciative of the gift and we'll try it at our next team retreat. It's an easy "game" where you can basically ask/do what's on the cards.

Amazing team building activity! Worth it!

Brought this to work to use with the team during out leader syncs. Everyone draws a card and answers their question. There are some really great super impactful and thought provoking questions in the deck. Everyone on the team loved the activity and we are going to be doing it weekly now. My leader loves it!

My team adores it

My team LOVES these cards. I’ve used other ice breaker cards but these are next level. Deeper and get to quality conversations, not surface level. Good storage box.

Professional questions that generate critical thinking

Dislike: the generic instructions that made it sound like it was a one-on-one relationship (i.e., sit across and face individual). Additionally, cards have symbols (i.e., heart, ear, faces etc.) but nothing indicates what they mean.Like: The overall quality of questions. No what color do you like? or what power do you wish you had? Good quality questions that touch on thought process, leadership, and insights.

Love these!

I got these for my student employees. I always hire new students, who need training, and building a great team is a part of that training, which is essential. These cards are perfect for team-building meetings. I would not hesitate to use them for any team, whether at school or in business.

Good for office team building

I am a human resources manager and ordered these to hopefully use with new hire orientation, but these can be used in a number of different ways to facilitate office team building. The directions tell you how to use them with one-on-one as well as group discussions. I will probably look through the questions and determine how to best use them.

Great for a Teambuilding Day

I took these into my Practice Manager's office and introduced her to this game. We each took three cards, and she was immediately blown away. I recommend getting this if you are struggling to bring your team together or struggling with the management team. Be prepared for some eye-opening and honest answers.

Great for Team Building!

I recently purchased this deck and divided up the cards evenly, then shipped them to members of my team. We played the game video video chat at a recent meeting and it was great. Some of the questions are deep enough to instigate meaningful discussions and some cards are just surface enough to keep the game moving quickly when we're short on time. With social distancing, these cards have allowed stay connected & engaged from afar. Thanks so much to the creators!
